jnstrom Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Sorry Im leaving off "My Gibson" for various reasons. Sorry It took so long for me to accumulate the numbers for my blog.
retrosurfer1959 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 if were picking a 58 Warren Haynes has an amazing sound that's not just him. but had to go with a 59 burst they call them the holy grail for a reason.
AXE® Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Never played any of them ... So ...63 Firebird ... it is...
stryker69 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 went with the 60 lp cuz thats when they put on an actual neck instead of a baseball bat!
Tim Plains Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 jnstrom, so the first 4 choices are the real deal and then the last one is a reissue? Why would you do that?
FennRx Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 jnstrom' date=' so the first 4 choices are the real deal and then the last one is a reissue? Why would you do that?[/quote'] because that's referring to my R8, the greatest gibson ever built ;)
FennRx Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 and btw....JP's #1 is almost certainly a 59. 1) Joe Walsh was the original owner and he has said it was a 59. 2) When the bridge PU cover was originally removed, it had a double white PAF, which wasnt available in 58. 3) When Gibson examined #1 for the CA version, the consensus was it was a 59.
daveinspain Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I had to go with the 59 sunburst... A $300,000 LP.... There's something special there...!
Thundergod Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 because that's referring to my R8' date=' the greatest gibson ever built ;)[/quote'] I was actually gonna say that if he was refering to either your R8 or Tims' then my vote would go for the R8... As he didnt specify I voted for the 1960 standard...
AlanC Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I currently own a few Les Pauls (and a couple of other Gibsons). The best I've seen and heard is a 'Burst '59 reissue Les Paul. Its my favourite Gibson. However maybe the original 59's are better but this '59 is unbelievable. Regards,
Tim Plains Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 because that's referring to my R8' date=' the greatest gibson ever built [/quote']That's what I've been hearing lately. I'm voting R8...FennRx's R8!
jnstrom Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 jnstrom' date=' so the first 4 choices are the real deal and then the last one is a reissue? Why would you do that?[/quote'] The R8 was in the top 5 from the last polls that I had running a couple weeks ago. The R8 guys must have represented.
FennRx Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 The R8 guys must have represented. word. now what i want to do is compare my R8 with Tim's R9. Care to ship it to me?
Old Deadhead Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I voted for the 59 mainly because of Tim's R9. Purtiest guitar I've ever seen
Tim Plains Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Tim's ego... Before <--------------> After <-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> Cheers Deadhead!
lpdeluxe Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Hate to say this, guys, but this is a meaningless poll. Is the greatest Gibson the one that commands the highest price? The one with the prettiest figured wood? The one your hero from middle school played? Or is it a guitar that speaks to you...and if so, what if it doesn't speak to anyone else?
This one goes to 11 Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Tim's R9 speaks to me, all right. I'll vote for that one too.
