Red 333 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I was surfing Musician's Friend last night, and saw that they are accepting preorders on the ES-330!!! When the ES-339 first appeared, I posted ithat I thought it wierd that Gibson compared its size to an ES-330 (and not an ES-335) in the promotional materials. I thought that suggested an ES-330 reissue was coming. I asked the Gibson rep at the Dallas Guitar festival this spring about it, but he gave an ambiguous answer about Gibson "thinking about" the whole ES line. I for one am excited to see Gibson has decided to reissue the ES 330 (in a burst, Beale Street Blue, and Antique Red). What about all of you? Is there an ES-330 in your future? I'd like one, but I already have two of the John Lennon Elitist Casinos (a '65 and a Revolution), both which have nitro finish, USA pickups, and a corian nut (like the ES 330 reissue). I also have a regular Elitist Casino (bone nut, USA pick ups, poly finish), so I don't know if I need four of essentially the same instrument. Maybe the ES 330's wider neck will convince me! It'll be tough to justify an ES 330 at this point, but I'm mighty glad it will be available. Wait, I know: It'sll save wear and tear on the Lennon Casinos, and preserve their value as collectables. THAT's the ticket. Red 333 PS: I know the ES 335 w/ P90's has been around for a while, but that's looking more attractive every day. Anyone got one? What's it like?
NeoConMan Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 A red 330 would make a nice companion to my red 335.
Bluesburst Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I REALLY want one... But that looks like it may be an MF exclusive. I hope not, being in Australia, that pretty much means I'm screwed if it is. I've been waiting a while for an ES-330 reissue. I can't see anything about it on the Gibson website. PLEASE make this a general release Gibson, PLEEEEEASE...
Notes_Norton Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I'm GASsing for the blue one. I think it would like rather nice next to these two: 2001 Epiphone Casino - 1979 GibsonES-330 "long neck" Made in Korea - Made in Kalamazoo But I can't justify the expense for another. IMHO the 330 is one of the most under-appreciated guitars of all time. It's lightweight, the neck is superb, and those P90s just sound soooooooo good. Insights and incites by Notes
Ignatius Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Oh, man. Just when I thought I was safe! A re-issued 330?!? This is the best guitar news that I've heard in ages. Ignatius
Blaster Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Sounds like it'll be a nice guitar model. Wish they would do a '59 "Natural" one with the Black cover P90s and big neck.
colimodio Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Last i checked the 330 was a simple guit. Also, through the back door you could (back then) see bumble bee caps...Wow!! it was always a good deal. I wonder.... A bit too large for me, budget wise and size wise...so i have a 339 with mods. BurstBucker Pros 1 & 2, TUSQ brige saddles sintec ivory, and a GOTOH alum bridge.
