Petrosrock
Hello guys, I have an old dusty epiphone from a friend and now trying to give her life again. Changed the strings etc and now I want to do something with the fretboard because I see it's not that smooth and easy to slide. Any ideas how can I do that? For example cleaning with a special spray or something? Thanks in advance people.

Lemon oil is one of the better conditioners for fretboards, #0000 steel wool is good for polishing the frets. Thanks to animalfarm there is a "DO-IT-YOURSELF" thread pinned to the top of the "Epiphone Lounge" section of this forum that has lots of help about cleaning and conditioning frets and fretboards. Whitmore Willy
There are a couple of links in Animalfarm's DIY thread at the top of the Epiphone Lounge. This is one: http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/54572-wire-wool/ Some people like to polish frets while cleaning the fretboard. Just remember to cover your pickups with masking tape if you do the frets with steel wool. RaSTuS must type faster than I do. LOL Willy
animalfarm
...and now I want to do something with the fretboard because I see it's not that smooth and easy to slide. Are you talking the face of the fretboard, or the back of the neck? Willy and RaSTus are right on target. Just need to clarify - Are you saying the BACK of the neck is nasty and your hand drags when you slide back and Forth? OR, are you saying the strings are dragging on Rough Frets when bending notes? Either can be cleaned up! ????????????
Fringe Lunatic
It is safe to use 0000 steel wool on an unfinished rosewood or ebony fingerboard. It'll clean and polish it nicely, while polishing the frets at the same time. Steel wool is used very often in furniture making and refinishing. jcwillow777
Like was said above if using 0000 steel wool, tape your pups. Why? There are magnets in there, need I say more?
Gordy01
Depending on how dirty the fingerboard is, you can scrape it lightly with an old credit card, or thin piece of plastic. Just after Christmas you may have a credit card you want to get rid of!
