jannusguy2 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 2004 Western Classic. Just picked this up yesterday. It's a beauty but I will likely be moving it along as I continue to pursue a smaller body Martin. If anyone is jonesing for one of these, feel free to reach out.
BigKahune Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 My oh my, that is a beauty. Very tempted.
jchabalk Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 sweet! that guitar's beautiful. i've wondered about the top binding/inlay on those. Is the white ring that runs 1/2 inch or so from the edge around the top a separate bit of inlay?
zombywoof Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Since you have only owned the guitar a day or so I would guess you two are not really well acquainted yet. Why not live with it a bit before you put it up on the auction block. Last year I picked up a pretty rare guitar on the cheap with the intention of fixing it up and selling it and then happily taking my pile of loot to the bank where it would eventually end up in a guitar I really wanted. Funny thing happened on the way to the bank though. I made the mistake of picking that guitar up and playing it once too often and it is still with me.
E-minor7 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Stunning wonder. The shape, the neck, the tuners, the burst, the guard, the moustache - zomby, just curious : What guitar are you talking about ?
zombywoof Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 That 1950s Epiphone FT-79 of mine. Just a big sounding guitar. It was perfectly playable when I stumbled across it and only needed some cosmetic stuff done. I got the estimates for the work but then decided to keep the thing and put the needed work on the "need to get done" list. Not saying I will not sell it off one day in the future just that you really need to live with a guitar a bit before you can figure out what they are capable of. Just might be that after a couple of months of playing that Gibson the OP might be thinking "what Martin?"

jannusguy2 Posted December 31, 2010 Author Posted December 31, 2010 The exploration of small bodied Martins reached a fevered pitch today with the purchase of a 1928 0-21. Due to arrive next week. So, who needs a Western Classic?
