How to get that gunky build-up off the back of the neck of the Guitar???

Any magical solutions for cleaning up that sticky feeling (sweat, oil, dirt, etc?) off the back of the neck of my guitars??? Thanks

Magic but not magic.

 

Take a washcloth, wet it good with hot water, wring it out well, put a drop or dot of liquid soap on it and just rub it. Dish soap is especially good. A dot is more than enough. Just wipe it dry with a soft cloth.

If the finish is really getting gluey or can be deformed by pushing with a finger, hold off. Let the guitar sit in a cool place for a few days before trying to clean it.

If it's just gunk and not the actual finih softening ( as Jerry K indicated), a little naphtha (Ronsonol lighter fluid) on a clean cloth will clean in right up without any harm to the finish or any residue left behind.

Yes...it is not soft finish, just the gunk of playing....slows my hand down (NOT in a good way...lol) Thanks for the hints
