onewilyfool Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Any magical solutions for cleaning up that sticky feeling (sweat, oil, dirt, etc?) off the back of the neck of my guitars??? Thanks
ksdaddy Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Magic but not magic. Take a washcloth, wet it good with hot water, wring it out well, put a drop or dot of liquid soap on it and just rub it. Dish soap is especially good. A dot is more than enough. Just wipe it dry with a soft cloth.
Jerry K Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 If the finish is really getting gluey or can be deformed by pushing with a finger, hold off. Let the guitar sit in a cool place for a few days before trying to clean it.
tholmes Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 If it's just gunk and not the actual finih softening ( as Jerry K indicated), a little naphtha (Ronsonol lighter fluid) on a clean cloth will clean in right up without any harm to the finish or any residue left behind. Tom
onewilyfool Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Yes...it is not soft finish, just the gunk of playing....slows my hand down (NOT in a good way...lol) Thanks for the hints
