Toggle switch positions

Pardon my lack of knowledge on this simple question but I have never owned a guitar with 2 pickups, now I have an ES-135 and have no idea which switch positions control which pickups. Can I assume the up position controls the neck p/u, middle runs both and lower controls the bridge p/u??

Yes, your assumption is correct.

To double check, put all your controls knobs on 10. Put the switch in the up position and strum a chord and note the tone of the chord. Put the switch in the bottom position and do the same. The deeper tone (which should be your top switch position) is the neck pickup, the the pickup with more of a treble sound is your bridge pickup (the bottom switch position). The middle switch position (both pickups) should be somewhere in between.

Another way to tap the pickups with a pick while flipping around switch positions, you'll get a slight clicky sound from the pickup that is "on".
