Cisca
hi i've got an Epiphone Les Paul custom bought used. the hard case is epiphone, the guitar sounds great (i've changed the hum with a 490r and a 498t gibson). the guitar's weight is 9,1 pound. But the Epiphone logo is horizontal and not slanted, custom logo is also wrong. Finally, the binding is not precise, and the humbuckers are not marked. the serial number indicates that the 1994 is a Korean Samick Plant. if anyone can help me thanks Nicola http://www.flickr.com/photos/mother_north/5307494594/sizes/l/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mother_north/5306902767/sizes/l/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mother_north/5307496860/sizes/l/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mother_north/5306904701/sizes/l/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mother_north/5306905711/sizes/l/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mother_north/5306906851/sizes/l/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mother_north/5307501140/sizes/l/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mother_north/5307502208/sizes/l/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mother_north/5306909879/sizes/l/
Cisca
To my knowledge it is legit. The older Korean made guitars are different in some details than the current China made I understand. because there are aspects that make me think that it is original, as the binding creamy yellow, I think it's become so over time. should be white when it is new. In my opinion it looks real, the issues that you've pointed out are nothing to worry about. The weight at 9.1lbs is the same as my 2 customs. The horizontal logo is how some of them were done, check out my 1996 Samick made LP standard's headstock The diamond inlay on the headstock is abit wonky but I've seen much worse on brand new ones! The old style humbuckers (before they started using HOTCH and 57CH) sometimes had the Epi logo on the base, if you were to take them apart you should find the clear plastic bobbins which would confirm them to be correct. Anyway enjoy your guitar, it looks awesome :)
