I wish it was more diverse. Aside from the obvious American membership (not surprising given the companies heritage and the countries population) there seems to be few British guys and the odd Aussie :(

I know there are others, but I wish there was a greater diversity.

I'm sure all those "odd Aussies" are going to be thrilled!

Middle of Nebraska, here. About the east edge of what's known as the sandhills...definitely rural...corn, hogs, cattle, horses, etc. Nowhere fancy, just a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll...Nice place to ride motorcycles, and not too far from the Rockies.

I probably qualify as one of those "odd Aussies", at least my mates think so. First 46 years in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada, then the last 18 here in Brisbane (pronounced briz-bun) Australia.

Sitting here with bad Gibby withdrawal.

I work in Western Australia, four weeks on, then a week off. Just got home last night looking forward a re-acquaintance with my J45 to find the key to my music room has gone astray. #%&@#%$#

Will have to call a locksmith.

My nearly 18-yr old daughter visited Cardiff several years ago and will be applying for a post-grad (high school) year abroad, where she hopes and prays she will be (a) chosen for the program and ( b ) spending the year in Cardiff (can't remember the name of the school.) She's been known to pronounce that station of yours... [scared]

Anyway, we live in Asheville and may well be here for the Fourth -- make a note in your travel planner; it would be lovely to meet up.

(Also, I know a great Weds open mic location... you could borrow my J-100xtra... [thumbup] )

Well, we made to NC, so I'm a "proper" member of this forum now [thumbup] .

We spent a week based in Sylva, but did so much. . . .

Zip-lined in Barnardsville, watched the July 4th parade in Lake Junaluska, fireworks in Dillsboro (where we also white-water rafted), rode on the Great Smokey Mountains Railroad and spent a day in the coolest city on the planet - Asheville.

We were so impressed with everywhere we went, very friendly people, great food, amazing craft beers - it's a very special place. We had THE best burger we've ever had at Jimmy Mac's in Bryson City - had to wait for a table but so worth it.

Didn't make it to Wayne Henderson's place, but it's probably for the best ( for my wallet).

San Jose CA. You can easily find one or two bluegrass jams a week here. My favorite is the one Sunday a month we meet at Ocean View Park in Santa Cruz; lots of good pickers there. Oneweilyfool, you ought to stop by Fandango's Pizza less than a mile from Gryphon. go there on Wednesday evening and we play outside during the summer. Then I wouldn't be the only Gibby playing bluegrass.

Another one from North Carolina. I'm in Cornelius, NC about 20 miles north of Charlotte. I live on Lake Norman. I would love to meet some guitar players close by, as I am a pretty new player. I have never really gotten to jam with anyone else. I hear it helps you improve, and boy do I need it!!!

Wow. I can't believe there are so many people from NC. But while were at it let me put my name on that list. [biggrin]

I grew up in Clinton NC, about half way between Raleigh and Wilmington. I'm currently in school at Western Carolina University. I noticed the name Asheville come up quite a bit. I tend to spend my weekends there. I've lived in NC since I was three (Came from Ohio) and for some reason I've always felt that the mountains here are very special. I'm really loving living here, and I can't wait to graduate from school soon (then go to med school) so I can start the rest of my life right here.

A pic I took right before fall started.

In the heart of the Heart of Dixie. Trussville Alaabama, a suburb of Birmingham. The area has a great music enviornment, several great music stores, and numerous venues for acoustic music ... as well as a stop for most national touring acts.

Must have missed this thread the first go-round. Not as many Texans as I would have thought. Houston here, for the last 35 years or so. I found that one big city is pretty much like the next once the new wears off....if I had my druthers I'd live in a warm, mountainous clime, but the money is in the city so here I am. Born in Florida, lived in VA, WV, SC, GA, OH, OK. Did a stint in the USAF in the early 70's where I met a guitar player from New York City and have been afficted with the 6-string disease since. Played in bands from the mid-80's until the last project disbanded in 2007. Don't play much anymore at all, but this last month I have knocked the dust of my 165, hit a few licks and found myself waxing poetic about my heyday on the stage. Nah......been there, done that.

It does seem that North Carolina would win the election if there was one!
