How many degrees from legend are YOU?

I myself am ONE degree from T-bone Walker, AND Stevie Ray Vaughan.

The connection is Gene Taylor, Met and spent a couple months hanging out with him in NOLA.

For those unaware Gene played keys for The Fabulous Thunderbirds, T-bone walker, Canned Heat, Ect.

How About YOU?

By association or Relation?

I went to school with several children of country music stars. Minnie Pearl was a family friend... "Fiddlin" Arthur Smith is a relative...

My folks were on a first name basis with the Oak Ridge Boys... ate dinner at Malard's in Hendersonville frequently.

I'd say if just meeting someone makes one "one degree from legend", that would qualify me as a veritable god.

However, I think the premise is flawed. Want to be a legend? Do something legendary.

Umm... many stretches here but:

Owned a Hofner Beatle Bass that was owned by Marshall Crenshaw. Bought it from a Brit who played the Cavern Club around the same time another certain UK quartet played there.

Owned a Tele Thinline that was owned by Narvel Felts.

Worked on a blonde ES-5 that was being used in the (then current) incarnation of Bill Haley's Comets.

Gave an old Goya electric to David Lindley.

A Hofner Committee I owned ended up on the cover of Elektro-Gitarren Made in Germany. The elaborate headstock with the mismatched G string post is mine. The back is the birdseye maple one towards the left.

And I'm friends with Laraine Newman. Well, she hasn't gotten a restraining order yet anyway.

I'd say that qualifies you as a legend far beyond "I sat beside Conway Twitty's son in HS"!!

:D

That's impressive. I'm honored to even reply to an 'almost famous' guy's post. [biggrin]

I meant more of how close to the legend, not so much being one.
