ebwheat1 Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I have an Ebony Gibson SG with trapezoid inlay. I recently decided to replace the pickups. Per watching, "youtube" videos and doing some research, I decided to go with Gibson 500T humbucker at the bridge and Gibson 496 humbucker at the neck. I klike to rock and roll. The guitar luthier that is changing the pups said the covers from the old would not fit the new. Question: Should I just leave the covers off? Or should I buy new covers? Aesthetically, I like the look ofcovers. But the guitar luthier said it can attenuate the magnetics from the pup and recommended not adding covers? Anyone had any experience here? Any suggestions?
