Help Needed: Value/Model

My friend wants to sell his SG. It has never (NEVER) been played; that in itself is a tragedy! It has been sitting in a case for almost it's entire life since purchased. The serial number is 00629692. He has been trying to figure out the exact model but neither of us are experts on this. It has a cherry finish, bound neck, no markings on the truss cover and gold grover machine heads. There is not a nick, smudge, blemish or flaw of any type. All I have been able to figure out it that it was manufactured in March of 2000 in memphis.

Can anyone give me any further information?

Whoa!!!!

That's a SG Supreme with a gorgeous subtly flamed top and a beautiful burst.

Extremely nice guitar and it looks brand new! . . [thumbup]. . [love]. . [thumbup]

I'm guessing maybe $1200 to $1600 used. TboneSullivan has one, maybe he'll check-in.

Are you buying it? . . If not, give us a chance.

Here's the specs over at Everything SG - http://www.everythingsg.com/index.php/supreme.html

Yep, $1500 - $1700 is in the ballpark.

I was so taken with your pics, I posted, then came back with an unmarked edit above while you were posting.

BTW, welcome. B)

I can't afford to buy it - wish I could. I build a lot of my own stuff but I've never been able to lay out that kind of cash on a single instrument.

He needs to sell it ASAP (unemployment issues) along with some Martin Logan speakers so he asked me to do some research and figure out what a reasonable asking price would be. I will suggest he put it up on the boards here. If he's got to sell it, I would hope he would sell it to someone who would truly appreciate it and not just some kid wanting to play Back in Black in the garage. :)

If you're interested- this is what I usually play.. It's modeled after an old Carvin flat top double cutaway. Took me over a year in my spare time to build it from scratch back in 2002. I also have a very rare Aria A-1922 in mahogany that I grabbed for $80 on Ebay 8 years ago (it was in it's original unopened box!) It actually plays pretty well but the cheap electronics should be replaced.
