LPguitarman Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 My son has a Peavey Valve King amplifier. Lately he has been noticing sporatic / randum power losses usually in the dirty channel. He will be playing and all of a sudden the volume will cut, you can still here it pretty well but there is a definite loss in volume/power. Can anyone help? It is a tube amp, could it be something with the tubes? Thanks...
badbluesplayer Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Yeah - that sounds like something that could be a tube. You could try tapping the tubes with a pencil and see if that makes 'em do something weird.
LPguitarman Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 Thanks for the replies guys... We'll check it out.
Riffster Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Most liklely the power tubes, change them before one of the tubes goes out and takes a diode or resistor out, otherwise you may find yourself taking it to a shop for repair.
