diveplane
hi all i am a SG lover, but gibson may wanna take note on static charge buildup on plastic scratch plates, my SG when i play fast rhythm pieces, sometimes depending on air conditions to create static , the effect creates a crackle when playing. i checked all wiring and it looks good, i did read few other forums and someone swears on a rub down with a dryer freshener unscented , this reduces static buildup on the plastics. just wanted to know if anyone else noticed this on there sg? L5Larry
gibson may wanna take note on static charge buildup on plastic scratch plates..... just wanted to know if anyone else noticed this on there sg? There is nothing Gibson can do about it, it is an atmospheric function of temperature to relative humidity. It will go away in the Spring. A room or whole house humidifier will help, but in extreme conditions there is really nothing that can be done.
BigKahune
Yep, as Larry said. Non-static dryer sheets. Rub yer pickguard with 'em. Or place a couple in strategic spots under the pickguard. Guys that have this problem like Bounce. Beware of anti-static sprays like Static Guard - could react with the nitro finish. Sounds like a laundry discussion. B) You can also try polishing the pickguard with Gibson pump polish.
