Rewddawg
Has anyone had the chance to play the Gibson Custom Lespaul Axcess standard? If so does it have a slim fast neck or a fat 50's style neck? I like everything about the guitar's description but it does not say what kind of neck the guitar has? Any input would be helpful. I am really gassing for one of these guitars!!! http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-Custom/Les-Paul-Axcess-Standard.aspx
Shell Shock
Hey there, I played on two of them at Rainbow Guitars, here in Tucson. I know that they still have the Iguana Burst with the Floyd Rose tremolo. Nice neck. Slim and fast. I liked it; however, you may or may not. I am sure that there is a return policy which allows you to try it out before you have to keep it. Just ask them. Steve

Steve I think I will like it because they modded all the features on a regular LP that I don't like. I don't like the old style necks and heel joint or the flat bodies. Also it is weight relieved which is critical to me because of my back.
Franzi
Hello,Rewddawg, the Neck profile of the Les Paul Axcess Standard is a Rounded neck profile with contoured heel cut. I think if you hold the guitar in your hands, it will feel different from all other Les Pauls you have played before, the design is very particular. If there is any chance you can try it somewhere, you should.
Rewddawg
Thanks for the input. My situation is the only way I'll probably get one of these guitars in my hands is to order one. So all inputs would be great. I know that it is not the same as a regular standard LP but I don't want the regular standard LP. They are too heavy, my fingers can't hardly reach the upper frets and the necks are usually too big for my taste. I know the sound will not be quite the same as a standard LP probably brighter but not as bright as my SG's.
Franzi
www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgtFNGY-3AE In this youtube film you can see the Les Paul Axcess Custom (it is the brother of the Standard, with Burstbucker 1&2 and LP Custom appointments). If you scroll to 1:38, Olli (from Musik Schmidt in Germany) will show you the back of the gutiar how the neck heel looks. If you send an email to customer service we will be happy to send you the specs sheet.

LPguitarman
Hey Rewd, the Axcess is really nice. My son is gassing for one also. He has the same issue with upper fret access. Are you looking at the trem. or stop bar? Personally I'd go for the stop bar, but that's just me. Not much for trem. on a LP. JMHO. Desert burst looks awesome in the one's I've seen. Hey Lp, how's the new year treating you? I'm gassing for the gun metal grey w/Floyd Rose. None of my guitars have a trem anymore. I sold off my Ibanez and my Taylor so this will be their replacement. I also like the fact these guitars have the rib cage contour on the backside and they are low in weight.
LPguitarman
Happy New Year to you Rewd. I saw one behind the glass at GC when they first came out. They wouldn't let anyone touch it unless you were buying. Don't blame them, it was nice and it should be kept pure for it's future owner. Saw TSO over the holiday break at Scott Trade Center. They were awesome as usual. Hope your holidays were great too.

My whole immediate family came to visit. Peace Bro

My whole immediate family came to visit. Peace Bro Yes, Trans Siberian Orchestra. Not that new though, they've been around for at least 10 years, probably more. Christmas music with a hard rock edge and backing string orchestra plus an awesome light and stage show. We were about 20' from the stage, very cool. I could actually see their fingers on the fretboard.

It's always cool to be close enough to see how they actually play parts of songs as long as your ears can handle it. LOL

LOL Since the PA speakers were hung up high, the sound that close was very nice and not too loud. Of course since TSO is partially orchestral, they tend to attract a lot of older fans who would not appreciate a blaring rock concert, so I think they take that into account. I like listening to well conducted orchestras to take a break from rock n roll on occasion. Now operas on the other hand put me to sleep.LOL

So when are you getting your Axcess? I hope to be ordering it the first week of Feb. if everything works out. Give or take a week. Nothing like playing the waiting game. Quite a few places have one in stock so it should be here in about 3-4 weeks.
