MARCOS Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I have a Dark Fire some time ago. Never any problem. No hits or trauma. I recharged yesterday. Today, during tuning, it performed one complete tuning, then all the tuners never worked again. There´s no sound in the tuners and the MCK string lights blink YELLOW. I´ve ran the reset code "109", and unplugged the battery without improvement. The manual just refers to yellow as electric problem. Any ideas. Please help. Thanks. Marcos.
Zummooz Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Hi MARCOS Sounds like a dead battery to me..... ***So come on Gibson it's about time these batteries where available*** If you turn on Dark Fire and the Display Matrix shows nothing but yellow dots (or if this appears during the course of playing), then the battery is fully discharged. At this point you must recharge the battery. If Dark Fire was charged when you put it away but the yellow dots appear the next time go to play it, then it was not shut down properly. Are you recharging battery with RIP or using the Spitter box ? Anyway... For the best help & advice on DarkFires etc please go here where most DarkFire owners reside. http://www.futureguitarnow.com/forum/index.php?action=forum#c1 Fellow DF owner Cheers

MARCOS Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 Add & Gramm Correction. In fact, what's blinking are the yellow lights of letters of the strings, while strumming during tunnig process. Not dots or low battery stripes. It's a damage in the neck Flex & PCB. The guitar "wants" to tune, but some damage in the neck doesn't allow it to happen. Where can I get a Dark fire Flex & PCB? I've seen at eBay, Robot guitar I flex, but it's different from dark fire. I already cleaned the tuners contacts and all. I can't ship to service because I live outside U.S - Europe now. I need the dark fire flex & PCB shipped to my Miami, FL. 33166 address. Who could help me?

MARCOS Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 I unbolted the tuners and easily took out the PCB. I found a scrap in the print the tuner makes on the PCB, with metal lead exposed. - See the white circle in the pick -. This is from a new guitar, handled and used with extreme care and in the best conditions. Never RIP connected, not even registered. This rip is made by the tuner and the PCB metal to plastic contact, by the normal adjust strenght of the tuner against the PCB. So, Just Natural Wear!! - And there are no spare parts in the market!!! However, I covered the defect with duck tape, the tuners never worked and the MCK kept yellow in the strings lights. Voice of warning: There is no way to get this spare parts from Gibson, nor from Tronical, whom claim "we only do R&D". At least Tronical gave response. Not a word from Gibson. Don´t buy Gibson Robotic Guitars until you check that there are spares for all parts. The system is delicate, and will fail, and your $2.500 investment will go void. It is stupid that you have to take a second guitar to stage, as Tronical recomends, because your robot guitar (RG, DF, DT), can fail because of poor spare parts support, and ZERO preventive maintenance. The system is not fail-proof, and you´ll cry and your stomach will burn, as I did, trying to get the spare parts. There are people that has been waiting two years for spare parts. Don´t buy these guitars. Pdt. I have the feeling that my damaged DF, yet a cool guitar, w/o the Robotuners system working, doesn´t cost the USD$2750 I paid for it, not even $1000. Word of Advice. - Don't buy robot tuning system guitars if there's not spare parts. Maybe some day will see spare parts for our investements!!! Thank you.

MARCOS Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 Dude I sent it to technical service and they solved the problem in only 2 days. You should try The claim of spare parts is intended for Dark Fire owners that live now out of the U.S. Shipping to Peekamoose.com in NY for technical service would cost over USD$500, plus $125,oo per bench hour. Buy Dark Fire if you live within the U.S. and if you're the first owner or the guitar is not registered. If not, you are on your own. I'm buying a Tronical robot tuning system V2.0 or the PCB and flex of the Dark Fire. Name the price. Shipping to Miami 33166. mdparra@gmail.com Thanks.
