rockpile69 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Hey Admin, don't know if this has come to anyone's attention yet or been brought up, if it has I apologize. Why is the dot missing on the "i" on the Gibson logo on the head stock on the Alex Lifeson model. I don't know if this is on all of them or just a few. I know mine is missing the dot. AL049. Just wondering what happened there! Thanks
Wondo Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Because that is the way that Alex's guitar is. A lot of guitars coming from Gibson in the 70's had no dot over the i. That is just the way they were making them then. Funny how they could pay attention to such a small detail as that but then put the volute in the wrong place. I would take a dot over the i in place of that silly volute any day.

rockpile69 Posted August 25, 2008 Author Posted August 25, 2008 Thanks Wondo! I just looked at some pics of Alex's guitar and you are right. I totally agree with you on your observation. Thanks again.
Crappy Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 They were out of crack that day and got something right, It's all part of that painstaking recreation of this iconic instrument.

I sefishly wish, if they were going to do a major screw up like this that it would have happened to another model. I waited too long for this guitar to have it be the royal screw up in Gibson's history. Oh well, I continue to play it and enjoy it.

Like ALex looked at the Volute and said , sure , my fans will love that F/u on the guitar .
