Strummer63 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Not sure how well known he was over the pond but I just want to say how sad I am to hear of his passing. A massively talented and modest man. His music will live on. RIP.
NevadaPic Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I loved his music. He's playing in the Big Band now...
BigKahune Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 He had a few of big hits in the US - Stuck in the Middle, Baker Street, Right Down The Line, Get It Right Next Time and Days Gone Down. I like his music and voice. RIP.
BigKahune Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Sorry to hear that Em7. Sounds like it was unexpected. My condolences to you.
Johnt Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 My father died this morning - dark shock Sincere condolences Em my prayers are with you are yours
Aster1 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Sorry for your Loss Em7. Lost my Mother last Christmas and after a year it came right back this year to waylay me again. Know your pain. Parents are very hard to let go of, esp. when they were/are wonderful. God Bless & hang in there. You'll never forget them or the love they gave but the pain does get better with the passing time. Aster1 :(
retrorod Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Condolences to you EM7, That is a very tough event in most peoples lives. Take care, Rod
Gilliangirl Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I'm so sorry Em7. Even if it's expected it's still extremely hard. I hope you have a strong support system around you.
MissouriPicker Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Em7, I'm very sorry to hear the sad news about your father. May God Bless you and your's.
Triumph1050 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Sorry to hear that, E. My own dad is 66 this July and seems to have aged a ton in the last few years. Hasnt been diagnosed but I think Alzheimers is creeping in. Tough now as I live so far away and only get one or two visits a year. Sobering to think at that rate I may only see him a dozen more times or so. I hope its going OK for you...prayers sent.
E-minor7 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Hello forumites and thank you for your kind words and attention - they warmed the outer and inner chambers here. Only slowly is this strange haze lifting and there's tasks and moods to go through. I have been peeping in once in a while, but seem to have lost my voice - it's even a bit difficult to write this. Will continue to follow the scene from the wings and more or less stay quiet for some time - which might be a good idea anyway - but you'll hear from me. The guitars around the house still chime and I'm happy to be secured that all you brave G-people keep those 6-strings ringing. GG! - You should definitely go for Fire and Rain. . . (and don't forget those outro vocal-lines)
fretplay Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 So sorry EM7. peace be with you and your family at this difficult time. If it is any help, it is over thirty years since my dad died. He is still very much with me. In time the grief slips away and leaves memories of him with affection but also as if he is in another country and will be visiting next summer.
brians356 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I stumbled onto this startlingly frank and poetic obituary (really a tribute from a mate of Gerry's): http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/jan/04/gerry-rafferty-obituary E-minor7: Keep ringing ... Brian
