electricblue
I regularly change strings and make adjustments when needed, but I have always wondered is it better to adjust the truss rod and intonation (if needed) before or after putting on new strings? My guess is after. Thanks!
Bender 4 Life
welcome to the forum ! you guessed right...... normally, if changing to the same guage strings, a couple of simple checks (see setup page on Gibby website) is all thats needed after string changes, and a couple times a year regardless if the neck relief, action,or intonation DO need adjustment, then by all means have at (also on setup page). what guitar(s) do you play btw?? electricblue
Thanks for the reply! Just as I figured. I have the Gibson Les Paul Classic (sadly discontinued) and the Epiphone EJ200, which will soon be replaced by either the Gibson version, Hummingbird or J45. It has serious intonation problems with the cheap, plastic nut. I bought it off of eBay about five years ago, but I know it was made in Korea so maybe that's why. welcome to the forum ! you guessed right...... normally, if changing to the same guage strings, a couple of simple checks (see setup page on Gibby website) is all thats needed after string changes, and a couple times a year regardless if the neck relief, action,or intonation DO need adjustment, then by all means have at (also on setup page). what guitar(s) do you play btw??
