46 and 2
First off I dig everyone's response so far, really neat stuff. As for me, roughly in order: 1. Wife and kids 2. My church 3. Guitars 4. My band 5. Other gear (amps, pedals) 6. Music (new, old, concerts, trivia) 7. Cars (hot rods, drag cars, new, old, vintage) 8. Fashion (maybe not fashion but "style" I guess) 9. My work 10. Hunting and guns (took a back seat when my black lab died in November ) 11. Knocking back beers with friends 12. Shopping (garage sales and retail, hunting for the bargain) 13. Fitness (this is a new one but been at it 6 days a week, combo of cardio and weight training) 14. Movies 15. History (American Revolution, early industrial age, WWII, any big historic events) That's about it I guess.

EVOL!
I have gone boar hunting twice, and the meat is delicious. Everyone says it tastes so much better until they find out its boar, then they get offended. I would recommend it I hear it has a nutty flavor since wild boars eat a lot of things like acorns and chestnuts. Really porky pork I don't dig on. I like leaner cuts like back meat and roasts and can live without belly meat. I should also add that I am crazy about hockey and NHL goalies (since that is position I play) even though all of my playing has been street or floor hockey. Weird being from Michigan and never having played ice hockey, eh?
Jeff-7
Hunting (bow for deer, shotgun for turkeys, ducks, quail and pheasant), fishing, reading, really big into history and lately I've taken a passion to Celtic mythology. I used to do a lot of pottery on a throwing wheel but I don't have access to one or a kiln anymore.

Tman
For me it's local history. I live on the site of a former CA gold rush town surrounded by old mining claims. I'm doing research for a book on the history of this area that should be published next year. Some of the picture in the slideshow below were taken during the gold rush literally in my back yard. http://www.slideshar...-the-gold-rush# That's cool. Placerville? Been to the area many times. It's great to take a passion and write about it or some other similar project. I wrote a diet book/cook book that was published in 07 and nominated for a Beard award - sorry about the bragging, but a lot of satisfaction. Now putting all the energy into playing guitar. Weird being from Michigan and never having played ice hockey, eh? It's exquisite. The two boars I have gotten weren't the biggest, but the meat was amazing. Had these little pork chops and they were just so tender. God, I hope I can go again this fall A lot of the pork they sell in stores, to me, is just inedible its so porky, for lack of a better term. Also, very lean as pork meats go. I highly recommend it. If I go, I'll have to give you some once we finally get a chance to meet up. My break has been hectic, and I'm leaving for Vegas in a week... sometime after that should work. I'll send you an email
krock
Very impressive. Do you get eight day weeks in Bedfordshire? You'd be surprised how much you can get done in Bedford, especially when getting good at something means you might finally make enough money to move away from this sh*t hole :L. I've been doing most of those sports for years. And swimming and kung fu I started at the ages of 1 and

Dub-T-123
I seriously don't think I could make it in Chicago right now... I think it's cold in California.. I have no way to go to Chicago. Flying and hotels are soooo expensive. I have a feeling you would like LA. There are always good bands playing in Hollywood.

Shnate McDuanus
Alright, here we go... -Girls. First interest is always in the ladies--don't act so surprised. Good source for songwriting material...for sure the easiest and most accessible. -Astronomy. Physical science in general, actually, but astronomy takes primary focus for me--there is some downright crazy sh*t that goes on in outer space, pardon my Gallic. Good source for songwriting material. -Music. I love music, so much. Classical music and heavy metal both really seem to stimulate me. Most music does, though. -Philosophy, particularly logic and epistemology. Aesthetics is also an interesting field, albeit painfully obtuse at times. Same goes for ethics and political philosophy. Good source for songwriting material. -Poker. I love, love, love playing poker. Seven card stud and Texas Hold 'em are my favorites, although Hold 'em varieties tend to be a little easier. -Literature...well, mostly science fiction, but there's some great stuff in every genre. I take a passing interest in poetry--I love Lord Byron and T.S. Eliot. Not a huge fan of Emily Dickinson or Robert Frost, who seem to be preeminent due mostly to accessibility, unless I'm missing something crucial. I'm an avid reader, for sure--my favorite writers are Robert Heinlein, Jeffrey A. Carver, Arthur C. Clarke, Robert E. Howard, and Kurt Vonnegut. I also love to write, and I love to write what I love to read, that being primarily SF. Also a good source for songwriting material. -I love film, which is another way of saying I love movies. I enjoy a good amount of foreign and independent cinema, but I'm not a film snob in any way--well, maybe I am in that my favorite director is Ingmar Bergman and not Steven Spielberg. Yet another good source for songwriting material. -I take an interest in history as well, particularly the late Classic period and the Middle Ages. An excellent source for songwriting material. milod
XDemonknight Try reading a bit of David Drake for sci fi, or Gordon Dickson, Eric Flint... You've gotta read Plutarch's various "lives." There's a book or two out about William (the) Marshal, the only guy that Richard I probably feared as much as respected. m

You've gotta read Plutarch's various "lives." There's a book or two out about William (the) Marshal, the only guy that Richard I probably feared as much as respected. m Thanks for the recommendations, Milo. I've meant for the longest time (see: since I was about fifteen) to finish Plutarch's Parallel Lives, but something has always gotten in the way. They're rather dense for "leisure reading," although from what I've read their historical and philosophical value is unquestionable. I'll get to them this year, for sure--I'm no stranger to dense reading material. I've also meant to read some David Drake. I downloaded a copy of The Tank Lords off of the Baen Free Library, but I haven't really gotten the chance to check it out yet. Eric Flint I've read, and his alternate history work is definitely excellent stuff. Gordon Dickinson I still must get to. Just out of curiosity, have you read Robert Heinlein's Time Enough For Love? I would venture to guess that you have, but if you haven't, I highly recommend it. There's some very interesting material on hypothetical genetics and the topic of eugenics from both a scientific and ethical perspective, in addition to a lot of very interesting stuff about colonization in outer space--there's one section in particular that I think would appeal to you very much, as it's akin to what I think could best be called a "space western." There's also some material on time travel, which gets bizarre, to say the least.

schnarz25
I'm also passionate about my family, my church, my dogs, teaching, kids, having fun, getting better even though I'm getting older, and most importantly, living a life for Christ. Even though I'm not close to perfection (nor will I ever be ), I am saved by faith alone and my actions stem from that faith and not the other way around. I trespass against people and I forgive those who trespass against me. I forgive them because I want to be forgiven by my Father. I try to repair the messes I've made not because I should, but because He lives in me and I love Him. I'm not "religious" and I live free from praying to saints, being a slave to rituals, idol worshiping, false teachings, and lies. I'm so better off than I was before.... Ok, passionate enough? ;) amen brother! very well said. I agree 100%.
Tman5293
Things that I'm passionate about? Well here's the basic list consisting of both hobbies, interests, and values. Roughly in order: 1. Music. Rock N' Roll and The Blues 2. Guitars 3. Computer work. I love working with both software and hardware. 4. My country 5. Cars. Mainly classic muscle cars. (60's & 70's) My favorite car of all time is the 1967 Shelby GT500 followed very closely by the 1970 Dodge Challenger. 6. World History, Mostly consisting of U.S. History and Wars 7. Supporting the U.S. Military 8. Girls (pretty self explanatory) 9. Video Games. Anything where killing people is involved.

Shnate McDuanus
Hey Kaleb, Fellow shred fan over here. Whaddaya think of Jerry Riggs? He worked with Pat Travers for a while, and since you mentioned him, I thought... Regrettably, you can't really find his first/only solo album anywhere (I'm not even sure that it was ever released on CD) but I think he's just great. I discovered him through the Heavy Metal soundtrack. It's just an excellent song and I thought you'd dig it. Let me know what you think of it. milod
XDemonknight The late Gordon Dickson wrote what's known pretty much as the Childe or Dorsai cycle. That batch of books and short stories tend toward the same sorta thing you've otherwise mentioned - genetic and cultural changes in mankind as various areas are colonized by humans, etc., etc. Henlein... Never had Lazarus Long trip my trigger... Sorry. RE: Baen Free Library. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread. David Drake was at the University of Iowa at more or less the same time I was in college nearby. Brilliant guy and a superb fiction writer, IMHO. He's a classicist as well and if you've read up on various "stuff," you'll note that there are allusions, plots and subplots taken from various periods of history. "With the Lightnings" and followups in the series has one of my favorite female characters, a librarian who is a better than average pistol shot. It's also the intro to a series that is roughly analogous to Elizabethan and later times during the period of sailing ships - except the sails are sci fi versions utilizing parallel universes to travel and... <grin> BTW, "western" writer Louis L'Amour wrote that one isn't educated until completion of Plutarch. It never was required for me as was Virgil (in Latin - horrid stuff, IMHO), but I finally was given my own translated copy by a prof of classics I'd done some news articles with. m
