davidl Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Hi all, It looks like I will be going to LV for a course and I'm trying to make travel/accomodation arrangements. My course is on 7674 West Lake Mead road and I'm trying to find a reasonable hotel close to my course. There are tons of hotels around. I just don't know which are anywhere close to my course. Any help would be very much appreciated. Dave
davidl Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 You don't have to be from Vegas or live there now. If you know the area and care to share, that would be cool. If anonymity is a concern, please just pm me. I can keep a secret. Thanks again Dave

NeoConMan Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Some rough neighborhoods up there. Standard tourist cautions apply. Enjoy the town!
davidl Posted January 15, 2011 Author Posted January 15, 2011 Some rough neighborhoods up there. Standard tourist cautions apply. Enjoy the town! Thanks Neo. Would you suggest I stay elsewhere and just grab a taxi to and fro? I'd like to check out the strip while I'm there too. I'm completely ignorant of the area. Cost is not a big factor (within reason). My employer pays the bill. Thanks again. Dave
NeoConMan Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I won't go anywhere without a car. If you wanna see the town you'll need one. If you're just gonna hang out on the strip, don't bother. Plenty of taxi, bus and tram service. You'll do a LOT of walking on the strip. Wear good shoes and carry a jacket - when the sun goes down it cools off FAST in the desert. Add a bit of a breeze (always a breeze around big buildings) and it can go from hot to cold in no time. Winter is usually beautiful - almost identical climate to Phoenix. I haven't been there in 5 years, so I dunno what there are for guitar shops besides the two Guitar Centers. There's always a good Mom & Pop shop or two with some nice vintage gear - and Ed Roman's place. (Just take a hot shower to disinfect after leaving Roman's...) Drive down to Hoover dam. It's only 30 miles, and worth it if you have half a day to spend.
