pippy
A +1 for having the guts to take on one of the all-time classics and posting it here. If you were to try it again I'd suggest using less gain for the lead break to give a change of tone from the main riff. Just a thought. Good stuff, though! P. BigKahune
Nice job. And after reading how you recorded it, I'm amazed at how good it sounds. I agree with Duane, if you've got one, try a mic next time.
bluesguitar65
I just looked for Led Zeppelin backing tracks on google. Came up with this site: http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/ I found the song with all the parts except for Jimmy's and I have no idea how they did it. Pretty good! There is a Vox Jamvox that allows you jam along with any music track you like and removing the orignal guitar tracks. Great tool for practicing and you can record with it also like an audio interface. Check it out. MF had this two days ago for $69. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Vox-JamVOX-Guitar-Jam-and-Practice-Tool?sku=159906
Big Bill
Very impressive! You're GREAT for a player your age. Out of the all the young folks I've heard play, I think you show the most promise. I love your passion. Keep the recordings coming, we would love to hear more tunes from you.

Why would I turn the gain down for the solo? Wouldn't more gain boost the solo and make it stand out? Very impressive! You're GREAT for a player your age. Tman5293, a bit less gain will let the solo breathe a bit more; less compression, less distortion; the solo can be boosted with volume.....does this help ? Good music on your site..... EvanPC
That backtrack site is pretty cool. I downloaded the same file (in mp3 format) and gave it a shot myself. Pretty neat. I've never done anything like that before. I think I'll be able to get some nice quality recordings with this and my little setup. I was able to easily import the mp3 file into Cubase, add another track for my mic'ed amp, and I was off... I could see someone having a bit of fun with this sort of thing for quite a while. Exactly what I was thinking! I was thinking about attempting either a Jimi Hendrix song or another Zeppelin song.

Listen to Page's playing on the original. There is a lot of fuzz used for the riff but when it comes time for the lead break it's a lot cleaner. More valve overdrive and less fuzz. But, as has been said by many others, if the version you posted is how you like it to sound nothing else matters in the slightest - in fact it's much better to find your own way of expressing any song! Again! P.
Tim Plains
If that's how you feel the song; then there is not one thing that needs to be changed. +1 You probably played that better than most guys with JP signature LPs could.

I'm sure I did since most of the guys that can even afford a JP sig probably don't even play guitar.
