Surveyor
My '73 Custom currently rides in a "chain-saw" Gibson case, but the inside is wearing out and creating indentations on the lacquer finish on the back of the neck. I am looking at the SKB 56 molded case or one of the Gator flight cases. This case will be intended for travel and not just to protect my guitar around the house. I am interested in what others are using and how it is/isn't working for you.

I've read really good reports on them including those who've used them on airlines. I see them on eBay on and off for about $105 shipped, best deal I've seen. BigKahune
You should edit your OP subject to include "travel case", you might get more responses.

Searcy
I've been thinking about getting an Epiphone hard case for my Gibson SG. It's a lot less expensive.

lonesomeagle1
My SKB is virtually bulletproof. You should order a TSA lock that can be opened by TSA personnel for inspection, so they don't rip yours out of its rivets to see in the case. It's made numerous trips between NJ and Fla with my son's Custom. Highly recommended.
atj13
Hi to all, on the off chance that anyone is interested I have just found the perfect case (not wanting to spend $500 NZ on a Gibson case) for my LP Junior. I bought a cheaper one first off (Stagg brand) but this turned out to be poorly made and the body flopped against the lid if it was tilted past vertical when being carried, not good. Our local store sourced another, slightly more expensive but far higher quality case "CNB" brand which is absolutely perfect. It has a subtly domed lid and 5 closures including one on the hinge side.It also a generous storage compartment when compared to my Epi SG case. If you are looking for a very good case and don't want to spend Gibson money (why draw attention to your investment from potentially the wrong quarters)this case is worth considering. Will post photos soon, Thanks, ATJ
Dr. Gonzo
I've been very happy with my Reunion Blues Continental soft case. It's the one that they throw off a 3 story building, twice, in their ad. It's fairly light, but thickly padded, and the guitar is held securely in place. Plenty of storage and tough as nails. I haven't used it for air travel yet, but I would expect it too hold up well. Just make sure you use a TSA certified padlock on it! Price was just over $100 at my local shop.
