JoeJack Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Hey guys, not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but I would like to find out what I can about this particular gold top. I like everything about the looks of this guitar and was wondering if this guitar can be purchased or if this is a collectors item that the musician purchased? I'm not a metal guy, but really just like this guitar. Anyone have any info?
pippy Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I think, and this is just from my admittedly poor memory, it was one of the 'Guitars of the Month' special runs. They usually make them as a 400-off batch. P.
Xaj Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Pippy is correct. This was a Gibson LP-295 Goldtop from the Guitar of the Month series in 2008. However, production was limited to 1,000 guitars. The Guitar Of The Week in 2007 were 400 made out of each model. For further info on the Gibson LP-295 Goltop.
pippy Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Thanks for the info and the clarification, Xaj! P.
JoeJack Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 Wow, y'all are fast. So of course my next question is, where can you find one? What would or should I expect to pay for one? Thanks!
Xaj Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 If you are in Europe, Thomann is the place. If you are in the US I'm afraid I can't really help.
TommyK Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Actually, the sharp horn makes it a LP Florentine with gold paint.
NeoConMan Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 LP-295. Street price was around $3,000 when new. Buying used is a crap-shoot - no telling what such an oddball will draw. They might ask top dollar, but settle for much less to actually get it sold. I like them - came this close to buying one that my dealer got by mistake. Try Ebay - standard cautions apply.
