Les Paul Custom

Recommended Posts

A few years ago I bought a 1985 Les Paul Custom with a gray sparkle (not silver) paint job. Since then I have been told that the EPA made that paint illegal in 1985. That could make this guitar rare to some degree. However, I have been unable to confirm thus action by the EPA. Can anyone confirm this and/or point me yo a confirming resource?

Silverburst? I think there was something about the old silverburst paint that had some metals in it that were considered and environmental hazard. That's why the old one's oxidized and turned greenish whereas the newer silverbursts do not. Sorry I don't have specifics, but that's how I understand it anyway.
