I've sold my car and bought a 1990 GL-2T.

I don't collect it until Thursday. I've never even seen a real steinberger, so what should I look for to be sure it is genuine?

Are the 1990 gibson guitars as good as the last 1987 Newburgh ones? I hope I've done the right thing....

Hello J,

as long as you don't have to sell your house for a guitar, I guess it's OK ;)

This would be easier if you were able to post some pics... are you? Usually you can't go wrong with a GL, since nobody has yet managed to fake the composite body/neck. Of course you should look for visible damage, fret wear, scratches etc. Does the TransTrem work as expected? Is it set up to transpose properly? Modifications often can only be recognized if you know how the original should look like. Any unused/open or glued holes visible?

A 1990 GL is a Newburgh one :)

Yes, it's as good as the 1987 ones. You've done the right thing, if you didn't drive a too expensive car.

Cheers Bernd

The car was a 6 year old ford focus estate, I still have half the money and two other cars. Even so, it is 4 times more than I've spent on any other guitar. I could have bought a tidy mazda mx-5 instead.

I'll post pics and the serial number as soon as I can.

I can't wait until Thursday

Got it!!!

White GL-2T number 7499 (April 1990).

For the 1st 10 mins I wondered what that nasty sharp piece of metal on the bridge is. It was starting to hurt and I considered looking for my hack saw, glad I didn't as it turns out to be the trem lock.

I don't even use a trem - anybody fancy a swap for a GL hardtail?

pics to follow.
