Kong Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I recently traded for a MIK Dot. I have a question about the neck / headstock. It seems that this one is made from 2 pieces of wood. Is this normal or should the neck / headstock be all one piece. Hope this is not a dumb question. This guitar feels and plays beautifully by the way. I think it is all stock except the knobs. Here are some pics:
BillyGibson Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Yes. It's normal. What guitar is that in your avator? It's very pretty.
amx05462 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 in most cases they take the rwa piece of wood cut the headstock part at an angle then reverse ti for gluing that is how they get the headstock angle. other wise they have tu chop off a load of wasted wood. its cost effective to doit this way and makes more sense than whittling off all the wood from a large block. in the case of yours it looks like they used to different pieces of wood . hence the color mismatch.
