tdrrmr Posted January 22, 2011 Share Posted January 22, 2011 Hello all , Just bought a SG standard ,checking the serial number (131053) dates it at a 70, 71, 72, I know a lot of the history of this guitar and know it's in original condition except for the pickups ....when I check the pots (1377331) it dates it as a 73 ...I would really like to narrow it down to something other than within a 4 year period....Help....thanks Tdrrmr Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
BobB Posted January 27, 2011 Share Posted January 27, 2011 The serial number 131053 with "Made In USA" below it would be consistent with a Gibson instrument built between 1970-1975. The date code on the poteniometer is consistent with a CTS pot built in the 31st week of 1973. That narrows it down to a 3 year period. The guitar might be from late 1973, but more likely 1974 with a slim chance of 1975. If you can email pictures to service@gibson.com, customer service may be able to nail the age down for you.
