Majkel
Hi guys, I tried out a Flying V Faded this weekend, and absolutely fell in love with it. I much prefer the satin finish over the normal nitro finishes, however I'm not entirely stoked about the cherry color. I know it's a classic color and all that, but it's just not quite for me I think. So I was wondering if any of you guys have any experience changing the color of the faded models? The finish kind of "felt" like it should just be a matter of adding wood stain to darken it? I guess I'm going for a very dark, but not quite black, finish... Any ideas/experiences/tips? Cheers! TattooedCarrot
Stripped the cherry off, rubbed about 6 coats of tung oil into it. Made the brown grain pop and felt the same. I also added P90's to it, no routing, just ordered a custom pickguard off ebay and it was a direct fit.
Majkel
Wow, Carrot, that's gorgeous! I love how well the colours work together! May I ask what you used to strip the cherry? Did you just sand it?
cabba2203
Very Cool! It's not everyday you see a V with P90s.
