Gamma Burst Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Hi guys i'm casting my eye over a class 5 and I cannot find any info on this website. Could Admin please inform me as to wether the model is weight relieved in anyway??
CR9 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I don't remember if it is chambered or has weight reduction holes but yes it is weight relieved. The Class 5 is an EXCELLENT guitar. Gibson Custom Les Paul Class 5 Quilt Top Electric Guitar Features: Highly quilted, carved maple top Weight-relieved mahogany back One-piece mahogany neck with long tenon Bound rosewood fretboard BurstBucker 2 at the neck BurstBucker 3 at the bridge Independent volume and tone knobs 3-way toggle Bound top Vintage tulip tuners 24-34" scale length 1-11/16" nut width
Tim Plains Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Weight-relief is typically made up of 9 holes (swiss cheese). Class 5s apparently have 17 holes.
johnnythefox Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I actually just bought. Beautiful flame top.....beautiful LP. I also heard it has more swiss cheese holes. Mine is 8lbs, which I consider light....and great! My neck is a little thicker than a 60's neck but not as thick as 50's neck. Plays and sounds great. I actually think its a glorified Standard with a beautiful top. I was willing to pay up because this guitar met my criteria for weight, color and feel and top. If you are not too picky about an amazing top etc, a standard is fine, and saves you a few hundred bucks. I'm very happy with my class 5. Good luck!
