Squire Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Following on from my other post about buying a Hummingbird Custom, which one of these Hummingbirds is actually honeyburst? Both are/have been for sale with the same retailer and both are described as honeyburst. Bird 1: Bird 2: Bird 2 is similar to this bird which is Heritage Sunburst.
gijs Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 oh my, that honeyburst is just insanely beautiful! I would buy it instantly, although I already have an HCS modern classic.

vincentw Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Bird 1 -- Bird 2 is Heritage Cherry Sunburst.
retrorod Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I like Bird one as a honeyBurst. Bird 2 ain,t even cose to a cherry burst in my opinion...Oh yeah, you said 'heritage'...Closer!!
TommyK Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Either one could be called 'Honey Burst'. While the latter one has a more reddish hue, I wouldn't call it cherry. Differences could be due to lighting, different painters (busters) the mix of the colorant, camera settings... I wouldn't sweat it. Honey comes in different shades too, depending on time of year, and available honey making materials (flower species), and ... how well it's filtered / or not. The browner one has golden hardware which accents this shade better, whereas the redder one has chrome hardware, which accents it better. Even the backs are done differently. The bursted back seems to have a birds eye figuring to the wood, quite unusual for mahogany, whereas the unbursted back appears to be straight grain mahogany
