Rocky4 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Besides the fact that I could watch Phil X play for hours, he uses an effect called a Looper? periodicly in the clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwYcasy15vs&feature=feedu
neilpanda Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 yea for improv shows I sometimes use a loop station to loop my voice. [thumbup]
BigKahune Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 It's a pedal with memory - you record a passage - then play it back as background and you continue to play over it. It continues to loop (replay the passage) over and over until you stop it, add another part to it, or record over it. You can layer several loops if you like. Or you can clear the memory and start over. I've got one I can dump to an SD card or load from an SD card.
Riffster Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Yea, its a looper like the Boss RC2 or RC20. Stomp on it, record a guitar part, then activate it and play over it.
DAS44 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I have a BOSS RC2, and I honestly love the thing, it eases the process of finding a backing riff. Its a tank too, my sister had a party and some effer kicked a knob off of it, while now I have to fiddle with the volume some more (it was the volume knob) it is still probably the most useful thing I've ever bought. Gives you so many new avenues to go down for improvisation.
Versatile Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I do believe Way back when Les Paul Did verily loop V

djroge1 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I saw this guy open for Big Daddy Weave and he uses a looping pedal in a lot of his show; I guess he's not big enough to pay an entire band to travel with him - ha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aP88Kxo30M4
Searcy Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I have one of the little Boss RC-2 loopers. Here's a demo of me using it live right after I got it. Here's one of my favorite looper videos.
freak show Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I've been thinking about getting one for a while. A guy I know claims the Digitech Jamman is the best looper on the market. Has anyone here compared?
Versatile Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Yes I think the Digitech has a couple of extra features The Boss's are good and well established too.... V
krock Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Line 6 make a great one. bit expensive but well worth the money
Kimbabig Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 When I want to jam over my own stuff, I just record my riff for a few minutes, then jam over that and rewind when I need too, a looper would be nice, but I don't really think it's worth the money in my situation.
Dub-T-123 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 As much as I hate Line 6 their DL4 is sweet.
GIANTRobOT42O Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I have an RC-2 and I love it. Its really easy to use and a great practice tool. Vox just came out with this. I dont know the price but it looks pretty damn coo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHQ3Pz_Y7Ac

Californiaman Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I traded some old comic books I didn't read anymore for a Cooper Super Duper Looper.
BobB Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Check out http://www.loopers-delight.com/loop.html . It is a site dedicated to looping.
