Fringe Lunatic Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Like all wood species, Rosewood can vary in shade. The darker one may have been artificially colored
EvoRider Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 could someone tell me why these 2 necks are different color shades , when there both maple with rosewood fingerboards . 1 is a zakk les paul 1 is a zakk zv Thanks One may have a little more oil in the wood. It sounds stupid but a couple of weeks ago i rubbed some minerial oil on my new epip thunderbird and wow it looks great. it didnt take much though.
RaSTuS Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 One got more dye than the other, a lot of Epi's fretboards are dyed to look darker.
fordnut02 Posted January 30, 2011 Author Posted January 30, 2011 Could I use anything on the lighter 1 to darken it up ?
strat-o-steve Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Stewart MacDonald sells a dye used for dark colored woods. Look for it at www.stewmac.com . There is nothing wrong with the lighter fretboard, not all wood is the same color, density, etc. :) It will probably darken a lot as you play it more, and get greasy finger oils in the grain! LOL :)
