Skylion
Hi, I bought a 2008 Standard model in march 2010. On the certificate it says it is finished in 2010, but on the neck it says 2009. (Probably because the neck was made at the end of 2009.) I noticed in reviews that it should have goldplated pods and Dunlop straplocks. Mine didn't have them. The pods are just plastic, with Gibson written on them. I bought it new in an official shop in Vienna, Austria. Maybe that is the reason... Does anybody know why? Thanks, Tom
Yaff
Do not get stressed, they changed the spec along the way. I think they use the same pots, but you can no longer see the gold plate. They also stopped including strap locks, no idea why. I also have a 2010 08 Standard and had the same questions. All the best and enjoy
DMichaelG
Howdy. Interesting. I love trolling these threads. The things you learn. Great stuff... I just purchased a 2008 Standard late December 2010 (Made in the USA 2009). It was inspected on 03/03/09. I was surprised to see the Dunlop straplocks and gold plated pods because they were not listed on the Gibson web site. The vendor must have had it left over. NOS? I checked the Gibson shipping box, label and the guitar upon arrival. (Interestingly, the vendor put the Gibson shipping box into another bigger plain box. Maybe security???) Another small difference: currently, on the Gibson site, it lists my guitar's color as "Ice Tea". On the Gibson box my guitar arrived in, it is clearly listed in big formal printed letters on the Gibson label as "Iced Tea Sunburst". I also think it may have been an earlier model because it would not stay in tune. Old strings? They did not seem used, rusty or old. Just stretched out? Don't really know. I promptly put some DR nickel 10s on and it has been staying in tune perfectly since then. Love the guitar. Perfect fit and finish and the setup was pretty close to where I like it. Enjoy your Standard.

Skylion
Thanks guys, It is reassuring to learn the small differences between the production dates and to learn how to spell "pots". :) Thanks and have fun playing! Tom
Searcy
Sorry, I don't mean to be a grammer and spelling cop. It's just that I saw the word and then saw it agin posted by another member and wondered if I had missed something. Oh... and I think you actually mean knobs. The pots themselves are not likely gold. On the original 08 Standard, it is the Pots that were gold plated, not the knobs. Apart from looking cool with the see through panel, I am not sure they added anything.
