AndreaGenevieve Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I'm looking to purchase a Flying V from my friend. I have the serial number (01964647) so I know it was manufactured in 2004. Can anyone tell me more information on it? Pickups, wood, etc?...
mosquito3 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 You can find infos here Anyway....The body and neck are mahogany and the fretboard is rosewood (ebony on the classic white). Pickups are the 500T (bridge position) and 496R (neck position) Good luck with your purchasing :)
Morten M Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 My Faded 00524304 has an ebony board. And came with the 498/500 combo. Remember to check out for rattles at the first fret.

I'm being pretty cautious with buying a newer guitar, as I always buy vintage but this will be my first V.
Morten M Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I have 7 Gibsons. 2 came with rattle at the first fret. So much for statistics, I guess. As my luthier says: 'Maybe I should move to the US. Then every morning I could start up my Harley and go to work at the factory finishing nuts all day'. That aside, I'd recommend a Flying V anytime.
