Majkel
Hey guys, so I have this Flying V I'm working on, and I'm switching out the pups for a Bill Lawrence L500-Xl and an SD SH'59. This is my first time doing this myself (eager to learn!), and I have one quick and most probably very dumb question... I unscrewed the pickguard to have a look at everything and found the following (excuse the stupid iPhone camera filter overexposing everything) The black thick wire that goes from the tone pot into the guitars body.... what is that? I tugged on it gently and it seemed connected to something inside the body thanks for any help! =)
Kimbabig
A ground, it's connected to the place where you screw the stop bar into.

Majkel
Ok, followup question... I soldered in the Bill Lawrence pup, but I'm doing something wrong... as described here and shown in this diagram, I've soldered the black/blue onto the volume pot and the white onto the pots connector. I'm getting some output, but it's quite thin, weak enough to not even give a reading on my tuner, and there's no sustain whatsoever - the tone dies after about a second... Anyone have a clue what I might be doing wrong?
