cunningham26
Hey Guys, Has anyone seen a MIK epi where the serial was only on the sticker? The only time i've seen a serial missing from the headstock has been when they've been stamped used. I'm looking at a Sheraton which according to the sticker inside is a 97 Peerless made, but the back of the headstock it totally blank, no serial, used stamp, or stickers. also, it has a strange burst like a casino where it's more of the vintage correct and goes into the upper bouts. I'm sort of thinking it may have gone out the back door of the peerless factory or something. Should I be alarmed, or happy for a NGD?
brianh
Both of my 90's Sherris have the SN silkscreened on the top rear of the headstock, "Made In Korea" silkscreened on the lower part, and no f-hole sticker. The natural one has a paper sticker on the neck heel that says "Sheraton N." Best I can do.
cunningham26
the general consensus from what i've been able to find is "why would anyone fake a sheraton?". I'm more skeptical of the odd burst and also that the pups aren't original. Im going to contact them tomorrow, but wanted to throw it out there and see if anyone knows more to it. the other thing im thinking is that it's an error in my favor and while its a 2nd because of the burst, the burst is actually pretty badass! thanks! brianh
In rare instances, a blacked-out headstock can mean it was repaired and painted over to hide the break. Not saying it's the case with this guitar, but something to watch out for.
cunningham26
another thing, if samick was making tobacco burst sheratons in 97, why would peerless be making a sunburst sheraton as well? I've never, ever seen one like this. enough things are ending in question marks that I may pass. auction ended and I won, but I'd rather dodge a bullet with bad feedback than be stuck putting money down on a sketchfest guit. edit: I've found a few Sheratons with peerless serials and no stickers on the headstock. Also, I knew a lot of riveras were peerless made around 97, so i searched them, and they dont have stickers either, so I'll let that slide I guess. Still, can anyone confirm that both Samick and Peerless were simultaneously making sheratons in different finishes? I'm thinking maybe this was a Europe-only model or something like that. (sigh) still skeptical.

bobouz
There are so many Sheratons floating around, you could easily pass on this & find another one later.
