frenchie1281734003
I have finally got my dream guitar! Have always wanted a 60`s Texan, going all the way back to the late 70`s and watching Richard Digance playing his on the telly. Then in the 80`s I got into Al Stewart, and a lot of his early work was played on a Texan too (Intro to Roads to Moscow anyone). In more recent times I have got into Wizz Jones, and Ben Kweller, both Texan players as well, and not forgetting Macca either. I tried unsuccessfully last year to get this 62, using my beloved John Lennon 65 Casino re-issue as bait. Then I saw Larry 58 post some pictures of his wonderful 58 up on the forum, and the envy & longing grew. When Simon (Flight 959) first posted about the 63 he eventually got, I finally snapped and had to have one! I failed in getting Simon`s (good for him), but that would have cost me my Casino too. So I went back to Ray Cooper at Ray Cooper guitars, and enquired about whether he still had his 62 for sale, he said yes, and I could have it for £1700, after a bit of negotiation we agreed to £1600, and I went flogging guitars on ebay. After selling three handcrafted guitars (Avalon D201, Yamaha LS-500, and Yamaha LLX-400) I just about had enough funds. To cut a long story short the end result is this, as of yesterday I am the very proud owner of this totally awesome 62 Texan. This guitar is in fantastic condition for it`s age, loads of checking of course, but solid with no cracks/breakages or neck angle issues. The Spruce top has turned to a lovely Toffee colour, the back and rims have a nice sunburst effect. The nut width is the wider 1 and 11/16ths, and the neck itself is very much like my IB-64 in profile. It has the shorter headstock like Larry`s, and it sounds wonderful! I have my dream guitar at last, and best of all, I have kept my beloved Casino. Here it is with my John Lennon 65 Casino. And finally with my IB-64. Steve. Marcus20VT
Looking good Steve! ! I can't believe how dark she is - "toffee" is a good adjestive to use. The rosewood bridge looks a tonne better than the plastic IMO. Can't wait to have a tinkle on her next weekend?? ??

Regards I think they all pretty much came with the pickguard "E" logo, but a lot seem to come off over time and get lost. Steve. P.S. I love the tactile feel of Braz Rosewood. Red 333
Geat photos, Steve. That sure is a beautiful Texan. I'm super happy for you (and Larry!). The IB looks nice next to it to--a worthy successor. Besides the neck profile, what similarities or differences do you notice in construction and tone? dhanners623
Beautiful guitar and congratulations on your purchase! It's always fun to get the "dream" guitar. Of course when one guy cures his case of GAS, he spreads the disease to the rest of us....
