MojoRedFoot Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I frequently hear good things aboot ordering from Sweetwater here. To all who have ordered a guitar from them, tell me aboot your experience. Normally I would not order online cuz I gotta try it before buying but to get my hands on an Ibanez PGM 100RE, I really don't have a choice.
NeoConMan Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Never done it, but heard nothing but good stuff.
ShredAstaire Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Yeah - I don't think they ship to Canaduh...but i have never heard a bad thing aboot em. Apparently really good service!
djroge1 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Yupper I use them. I was skeptical about buying a guitar on-line at first too but for what I wanted it was the only option. They check their guitars and do a set-up on them before they ship. In other words it's not just receive guitar in the box and turn around and send it out type of deal. I personally like this, but some may not. The guitar I bought was an Epiphone Elitist Dot - my best playing guitar. They set it up before sending it and it's perfect.
Riverside Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I've had good service from them, but their sales guys will stalk you like a bird-dog for weeks afterwards. Sometimes they throw a bag of candy into your delivery...

MojoRedFoot Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 So it's a good option. Depends how much extra Sam Ash or Guitar Center will throw in and take off the price. Both places said they would work with me and I have a feeling GC will get it faster since they have one in the warehouse cuz Sam Ash would have to order directly from Ibanez. The reason I would rather deal with them is all the shipping nonsense is on them. Ugh...2/25 cannot get here fast enough! Thanks for the input guys. I feel better aboot ordering through them should GC or SA fall through.
Silenced Fred Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 ^ This The candy thing is kinda "cute" though. ... I never got candy
cabba2203 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I've never had a problem with Sweetwater. Done many orders. The one time I received a damaged order, it was promptly RMA'd and replaced. In fact the only annoying thing is their tenacity to continuously call you and update you and make sure everything is good. That's not a bad thing, I'm just a grumpy bast@rd who hates getting phone calls.
BigKahune Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I've made a couple purchases with Sweetwater - no problems - no complaints. I also like that they post pictures of the individual guitars for sale - not "stock photos" like a lot of other places.
Dennis G Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 They check their guitars and do a set-up on them before they ship. In other words it's not just receive guitar in the box and turn around and send it out type of deal. I personally like this, but some may not. I had an Elitist Casino on order for 4 months. During their check/setup they found a small (1/8") ding on the back of the body. My guy called me to tell me about it and emailed pix of the damage. My choice, take this one or wait. I waited a couple more weeks. Point being, they really do look the stuff over not just take if from truck to truck. I've had good service from them, but their sales guys will stalk you like a bird-dog for weeks afterwards. I've not had that problem. I get emails from time to time, and an occasional phone call if it's something my guy knows I'm interested in. They do follow up after you've received your order to make sure everything was fine though. I've bought guitars, amps, accessories, etc. from them and have never had an issue. They're my first choice for online ordering, but the only problem is that they sometimes do not have the assortment of MF or GC. The other advantage is that you can see the actual guitar you'll be getting pictured in their gallery, with serial #. Just tell them which one you want.
Mark Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Proactive without being obnoxious Haven't bought a lot but what I have bought has been fine. Never an instrument though.
DAS44 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I ordered a few things from sweetwater, got a call about a week after making sure it all got there intact. I'd buy again, and I will.
Bender 4 Life Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 last Sept. I ordered an American Deluxe Strat from Sweetwater, their customer service is the best.... it arrived in perfect order, action and intonation absolutely perfect (I requested extra low action) and recieved the "Sweetwater Call" and an e-mail making sure I was satisfied with my purchase. no problem there....BUT then the calls from telemarketers started !! i've dealt with GC,MF,GF,AP,TVS etc. for years and never has my info been sold to a telemarketing conglomerate, but almost IMMEDIATELY after dealing w/Sweetwater they started calling, and i'm on the Nat'l Do Not Call list for petes sake..... i'd still buy from SW IF (yes, capital IF) no one else has what I want, but thats about the only way. I guess thats how they comp themselves for the free 55 point inspection.

I get no telemarketing calls and I've placed a small number of orders with them over the past 3 years. Is it possible that the telemarketers got your info from another source that coincided with your SW order?
rguerra Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Absolutely! Sweetwater is a great company to deal with. I've bought guitars, a bass, a mandolin, effects, an amplifier and tons of accessories from them. The amplifier was a floor sample and I got a complete description from my sales rep as well as a great price. Everything arrived setup, clean and ready to play. My sales rep calls every month or so to check in and make sure I'm still happy and asks if there is anything I'll be needing. A company that is tops for customer service.

You do know there is thousands of ways for that to happen right?
lazarusvt84 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Proactive without being obnoxious Haven't bought a lot but what I have bought has been fine. Never an instrument though. Ditto...my first choice. Bought a couple grand worth of stuff in last few months from them...no guitar yet. But a few months ago they priced-matched a ridiculously under-priced lefty LP Stand Traditional Plus (200 less than anyone else on the www) that I came across on Amazon. I almost grabbed it...but opted for an identical 2010 used one off Ebay (see avatar). HIGHLY recommended...
Mr. Natural Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I ordered a coiled instrument cable from Sweetwater a while back. It was my first order from them. They called and/or e-mailed me nearly every day just to keep me up to date on the order. When I received the order (with a little bit of candy in the package), I responded to their most recent e-mail to let them know I received the order and everything was OK. "My" sales guy e-mailed me again to make sure everything was OK and to let me know that if I needed anything else.... I've ordered stuff from GC, MF, and several other on-line guitar gear/parts dealers and gotten, in general, satisfactory service. But, none of the others have given me the customer service attention that Sweetwater has. I realize it was just a few phone calls and e-mails, but it seemed that they were really paying attention and wanted to make sure that the transaction (as paltry a sum as it involved) was satisfactory. I would order stuff from them again, and I would not hesitate to order an instrument from them.
MojoRedFoot Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 For those of you who ordered stuff they had in stock, how long did it take to receive your order?

tazzboy Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Great company and great Customer Service in fact I had email a couple days ago from TJ who is the internet guy for sales checking up on me little and was wondering when I will be doing my next order. which shows they really care about the customer.
MrNylon Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I never ordered a bass from Sweetwater, but a friend did. He went into the guitar gallery and picked out the exact one he wanted from the photos posted there. I've ordered a lot from SA with no problems either.
Andy R Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 For me about a day because I only live a about an hour away. Good company and an awesome place to see.
