I ordered a les paul traditional pro ebony yesterday, they sent it today. Should arive in a couple of days. Should be fun =) If I decide to keep it I´ll replace the plastic parts and knobs with black parts, I might also get covers for the pups. That should make it look kinda lika a custom.

Just went home to meet the UPS guy. However I had to get back to work so I didn´t have any time to try it. These last couple of hours at work are gonna be long. I think I´m gonna need a blowtorch or something to open that cardboardbox they sent it in.

Wow, sitting at work today, knowing what's waiting for you when you get home. Bet you won't get too much work done today.

Congrats...waiting for pictures.

Finaly had a chance to try it. I never been a big fan of black les pauls or uncovered pickups, so I was planing on ordering black plastic part and pup covers to make it look like a custom (which I think look awesome) but when I opened the case I was "wooh". It looked freaking sweet. The zebra pups looked great against the black. I wont change the way it looks any time soon.

Plays great. I prefer the 60´s neck to the 50´s les paul necks I´ve played. I still like the 50´s neck of my sg more though.

The satin finnish on the neck didn´t realy feel very satiny. More like a gloss finnish. I like the locking tuners, will make changing strings much easier, plus they look cool.

My only complaints so far is that I found the bridge pu to be a litle harsh and bright. That doesnt seem uncommon on les pauls in my experience though. And i guess thats what the tone knob is for. The volume knobs felt a little wobbly. Not a deal breaker but still a little disapointing. Also one of the volume knobs wasnt correctly mounted. When its on full its on 3. Easy fix I suppose. Just pull it straight off and attach it again correctly, right?

Overall it seems like a realy sweet guitar.

I´ll be back to post some pictures.

Congrats again on your new LP. You're correct about the knob. Just pull it off and straighten it out. You might try that with the wobbly ones too. Maybe they're just loose.

Try lowereing the bridge PU a bit. It may cut back on the harshness a little. New guitars always need a good set-up from the factory. Different parts of the country need different tweaks because of the environment. Gibson doesn't set things differently depending on where they ship, they usually do a generic set-up. The PU's may need adjusting.

Hi all (my first post on this forum)

I bought one exactly like this at GC last November, and I completely agree: really a sweet guitar, and the bridge pickup has got to go. It IS harsh and brittle sounding. I've given it several months, and I'm not happy. I have of course tried different heights, rolling off the treble, but this pickup has the mids scooped out of it so that doesn't really fix it.

And, since I'm a working musician, I already have a ding in it down on the outside bottom edge next to the jack hole. $#%$^%$$!! (denotes serious swearing).

Now, what pickup to try next? Probably either a Duncan or a DiMarzion. I think I'll make a thread.

Yeah, wierd decision to put it in there. I´ll be following your thread about chaing the pup. Sorry about the ding, but it must be fun being a working musician?

Can anyone tell me how to upload picture?

There's a Sticky thread in Forum Feedback that describes how to download pictures.
