drummer2019
Hi I have a Gibson Classical Guitar - No model number on it. Serial number: 903350 The guitar is in good shape, especially for it's age. I have the original Gibson case. Seems to play well. Mahogany sides and back. Spruce top. Any idea how much this might be worth? Thank you!
DanvillRob
NICE! I'm no expert... maybe a Gibson C-O.
ksdaddy
It's a C-L. They didn't make a whole bunch of them. They were marketed to beginners and were bare-bones all the way. They date to about 1969-70. That's not going by your serial number, that's going by model history only. I sold one a couple years ago for about $150. grampa
Not necessarily worth a lot of money but a whole lotta fun to play. They are very solidly built. I had a C-0 from '62 and played it hard, folk, blues and rock, and it took it all. Have fun.
drummer2019
Wow thank you all for replying and for all the knowledge. If I could only sell the guitar for $150 its not worth it --- looks too cool to do that lol but I did come across this old ebay listing --- seems like the same guitar and went for $450.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-1960s-Gibson-Classical-Guitar-/280623840487?pt=Guitar&hash=item41567bfce7 I emailed the seller and he said he had one bidder and he paid the $450.00 --- seems to me if thats the case thay buyer was ripped off. I hope you can help --- thanks again for all the replys!
ksdaddy
He wasn't ripped off. Nobody held a gun to his head and told him to bid. He bid more than he should have though. Them's Gruhn Prices, not real world prices.
StijnV
A C-1? The specs from the Gruhns Guide to Vintage Guitars are the following: C-1: (early example): 14 1/2" wide, mahogany back and sides, 2 rectangular bridge inlays, 2 multi-ply soundhole rings, tortoiseshell celluloid binding on top and back, rosewood fingerboard, zero fret (earliest without zero fret), ebony nut, slotted peghead with center dip at top, black peghead overlay, no logo, rectangular paper label, c. 1951. Introduced in literature, 14 1/4" wide, mahogany back and sides, plain soundhole ring: 1957 Wide decal rosette (soundhole rings), unbound back, decal peghead logo: 1964 Discontinued: 1971 Can you maybe tell me how the serial has been brought on? (inked -on or stamped) and if there is a "made in usa" stamp on the back of the headstock? We do not offer our customers appraisal services of used instruments as we are a manufacturer and distributor of new instruments. ksdaddy
It's not a C-1, it's a C-L. The C-1 has a bound body and a decal rosette. The C-L has no body binding and a single line inlaid rosette. They were put out about the same time as the B-15 as an entry level guitar. Gibson felt the crunch of the Japanese in the late 60s and tried very hard to make a cheap guitar.
