kokoshmusun
I just got an Epi EB-0 after some research. I'm not much of a skilled bass player, I've played guitar longer, but not super skilled there either. All I do is hold my line and that's enough. Previously, I've played around NYC bars and recorded with a pop/rock band with a Fender P-bass, but had to sell all of my gear due to moving overseas. That was a successful experience. Now I have a different 3-piece rock/experimental band and I settled on the EB-0. I got it and the action is too high, so I'm trying to adjust it now, and that's how I found this forum (while trying to figure out whether I should adjust all 3 screws or just the side 2). Otherwise, it feels good. But further research on the internet brought to my attention a lot of comments about how EB-0 is a "sh*t bass." I know it's not a Fender P-bass, but my hope is it can do an okay job and that I can comfortably take it to live shows. I plan on getting some pedals such as a preamp (MXR M80) and some others (octave). So, I know this post doesn't have much coherence, but I'm just new to the EB-0 and need some reassurance about it. If anybody out there has put EB-0 to this task and gotten good or bad results, I'd like to hear. Also what gear have you used in addition to it? Thanks! kokoshmusun
Actually, when trying to adjust the action, while turning the side screws one of them kind of came out of its hole in the body a little bit. I pushed it back in but now I'm even more unsure. I'm going to take it to the luthier and hopefully it'll be fine.
Gaolee
An Epiphone bass is different from a Fender bass. That's all. Anybody who thinks an Epi should sound like a P-Bass, feel like a P-Bass or act like a P-Bass probably thinks it should look like a P-Bass, too. That's all. kokoshmusun
Sure, I wanted to try something different. I like the Fender P, but I'm excited about the Epi as well. I'm not even comparing them. Today it's going to the luthier. Hopefully he can make the bridge more stable and lower the action, and then I'm going to give it as much love as I can. I'm just not sure how far it can take me in a band. I'll see... I hope I made the right choice.
