lemon oil, what a difference it makes...

nothing like a clean fretboard. i think it makes a guitar come alive and sweet to play. i like to ust lemon oil to clean fretbaords, and it actually can have the effect of drying them out. one trick i have used for a dried out fretbaord after cleaning it is the grease off my head. yup. it is clean, and natural, and closely replicates the same stuff i will be getting on it when i play. if you are bald like me, you have a great resourse for the stuff.

i'll share a secret with yall. there have been times i have used the rag my gf would use after, you know, to polish a fretbaord. tends to bring out the red in a rosewood board, i think.

Does it make a difference in sound if the fretboard is dry?

curious now...

i have noticed at times after soaking in lemon oil a loss of snap and a muddier tone on my strats, mostly those that may have leaned that way to begin with or that i really soaked, but this went away. i therefore, only use lemon oil when it is needed, which is rare. i could be way too anal about it though.
