57classic
No idea what brand or type of instrument but I really liked it thanks. Was it strung like a mandolin in a guitar disguise?
rar
It's a Fletcher Brock mandocello. -- Bob R
Gilliangirl
Wow, I love her voice. It's a cross between Gillian Welch and Sarah Harmer. Reminds me of pure maple syrup.
Red 333
It's a Fletcher Brock mandocello. -- Bob R Is it not the Brock Octave Mandolin? I love the old Epiphone Masterbilt-style stick pin inlay. Oh yeah, and how that instrument sounds, and Sarah's performance, and the song. Good of you to post it, Wiley. E-minor7
She's good - very close to that 8-string, , , and as I see it surrounded by a couple of Gibsons. Would like to hear her play the square shouldered to her right.
TommyK
Mandocello it is. Four double course rigging. It is indeed a beautiful sounding instrument.
Red 333
Mandocello it is. Four double course rigging. It is indeed a beautiful sounding instrument. Sarah is a known player of the octave mandolin, and Brock does make one. It looks just like his archtop mandocello, only the body is smaller (16" and then some vs. 14" and then some). What ever she is playing, it is beautiful sounding, as you say. Red

rar
Sarah is a known player of the octave mandolin, ... She's capoed up three, and that droning bass note is a Bb, so it is, functionally, an octave mandolin. But setting up a mandocello as a "long-scale wide-neck octave mandolin" -- and vice versa -- is just a matter of a little nut work. Very common in the mandocello/octave mandolin/Irish bouzouki community. After taking another look at the video, I still lean a bit toward mandocello, but, if she's a really small person, it could be the smaller octave mandolin. -- Bob R
