jasonk
Hi, I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I am hoping someone can help me dating my Gibson lg-3. The guitar was my Grandfathers and was given to me when I was 12 so I could take lessons. I didn't stick with the lessons and it has been in a closet ever since. I did some on-line research and it seems that it is a post war because it is missing "the banner". I saw pictures of another LG-3 and it claimed to be a 1947 and it looks identical to mine. The only markings on it are the lg3 inside and 1995 16 as you can see in the pictures. I was also curious about what it is worth, not that I would ever sell it but it is always good to know. retrorod
Nice guitar! The bridge does not look right to me for a '47. ..Rod
tvguit
I agree with Rod about the bridge. I think it should be the recangular bridge. However I have seen this exact bridge on Southern Jumbos from '47 so the line worker may have grabbed whatever bridge was closest.
jasonk
Thanks for the replies. It looks like you are both correct, I called Gibson and they told me it is a 1948.
