patterson
I was looking on the numbers for my guitar on the Gibson site and I couldn't find them.81284574 I bought it in Oklahoma City I think in 1985.It Is an Explorer neck thru body rosewood board. It is black with gold angled stripes. The stripes have different shades of gold. The hardware is gold.It has a khaler locking tremolo.I have played almost everything out there.I currently play a custom Jackson Soloist.I have never played a guitar with better action than this one.I just have never seen another explorer with this paint.I have the papers for it from Gibson and the Gibson case.I know it was new when I bought it.I gave $650 for it. mosquito3
If the stripes scheme is similar to this one or this it should be a "designer series" Gibson Explorer. Please, upload a pic, i love those Explorers :)
StijnV
Yep ! Should be the Custom Graphics series; please see attached. Pics will help though.
Guitardan2010
I had the same problem when looking for mine. I think StijnV is on the right track, although I think the Whammy bridge is custom shop as mine is. The # shows it was built on the 128th day in 1984 in Nashville TN. Hope it gets you further on your search.
