FieryILP
Hi there! New to the forums and I'm posting from my phone... so I'll make it short and sweet. I put some emg 81/85s in my 02 les paul special about 5 years ago.. I saw the light a while back and tonight found my old BB pros! SWEET! Been lookin for the damn things for a year... so my question is.. how do I tell which pup is the bridge and which is the neck? Or for that particular type does it matter at all? And if I need to take the cover off, am I jeopardizing the integrity of the pup, or can any Joe Shmoe do it without consequence? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks! stein
measure them with an ohm meter?
strat-o-steve
The pickup with the shortest leads will likely be the bridge pickup. Otherwise, you will have to use the Ohm Meter test :P
BigKahune
Too bad yours aren't marked. I got a pair from 2007. Each has a sticker on the back - the bridge is marked "Lead Pro" and the neck is marked "Rhy Pro". Otherwise, as the guys have already said. Fringe Lunatic
Some, but not all pickups have pole piece spacing that corresponds to the position, where they're slightly wider on the bridge pickup.
Les Paul Fanatic
Shortest lead will be your bridge.
FieryILP
Both leads seem about the same.. one is maybe an inch longer... so that may be the bridge??? Also if I do an ohm test, the neck should have the higher reading, correct?
FieryILP
Err I'm sorry, longer for the bridge, I mean..

stein
and why not give us a tone report, so we can get an idea what it is like going from emg to bb's? that would be fun
