elliott5 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Can anyone shine some light on this model number designation? Model No. LPCGHSCH1 I cannot seem to find it listed anywhere. It looks like a hot rod STD.
DMichaelG Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Welcome elliott5; That's the model number for a Gibson Les Paul Standard Traditional Pro, Heritage Cherry Burst. On the Gibson web page they call it 'Heritage Sunburst'. Burstbucker3 bridge/'57 Classic neck pups with push/pull coil tapping, plek'd 60s neck profile, Grade A maple top. I believe it is weight relieved, not chambered. So not as light as other LPs, like the newer Studios. An 'exclusive' model of Guitar Center/Musician's Friend (and their associated franchises) built by Gibson USA. Check out the rest of the specs on the Gibson page. Nice lookin' guitar.
BigKahune Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 . Man that's a beautiful plain you've got - love the subtle burst gradient.

Thanks for the info, and the link, DMichaelG. It is much appreciated. It's my first GIBSON guitar and man, am I enjoying the playability and quality of build. I have a Thunderbird IV also, as my normal weapons of choice live below middle C, and that is just sublime. I get comments on my sound everywhere and it looks cool to boot. I'll put some time in to improve my guitar technique and I hope to do this fine instrument the justice it deserves, in time. Check the pics for my stable, so far. GAS!
DMichaelG Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Nice crew there, elliot. Excuse my ignorance but it appears you play stand-up bass? Or is that something else? Whenever I hear cool jazz from the 50's it makes me want to learn to play stand-up acoustic bass. Love those walking bass lines. I like watching the bass players in the small jazz combos on stage. It seems to be artistry in motion.
elliott5 Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 Yeah, But I would use 'plunk' not 'play' to describe my upright talents. It is something I have been at for the past 3 years on and off and have recently engaged a talented jazz man to help. What a difference some instruction makes! The sound is very groovy and I get asked to bring it along on many occassions.
