BluesKing777 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 My new J45 Standard hooked me when I first played it at the shop last November, and I have hardly let go of it since! Here is a link to a new video I recorded the other day and just loaded to Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxoGlPOn1OU Regards BK.
57classic Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Great playing again and your J45 sounds beautiful
livemusic Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 That sounds awesome! Very bluesy the way you are playing, plus the inherent sound of the J45. I just bought one yesterday and love it! I can't play blues like you, I play more folk and country styles but some blues. I gotta practice to catch you, that's very good playing.
BigKahune Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Glad to hear/see your enjoying your J-45. You should check out the "Your Acoustical Performances!!!" thread pinned to the top of this subforum. Most of the performance videos go there, but not all. B)
larryp58 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Great sounding guitar! Man, I could listen to blues chords being played all day long! Good job!!!
BluesKing777 Posted March 5, 2011 Author Posted March 5, 2011 Thanks for the wonderful comments, everybody. I will add it to Acoustic Performances at the top of the page.
EuroAussie Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Yep, I really enjoyed that as much as others. Very cool playing and that J-45 sounds outstanding! Just wondering what strings are you using on it ? Cheers, M.

Just wondering what strings are you using on it ? Cheers, M. Thanks M. My J45 was set up professionally but otherwise pretty standard: Gibson Mastertone Lights for strings. I am still agonising over getting bone extras like everyone on this forum, but I love the sound so much that I will run with it as is for a bit??? (More like hold myself back!) I also use the Aura Spectrum DI (I think I read you used that too), so reluctant to change the saddle when it all working great. I have added bone bits immediately on other guitars (M's) and on a all hog guitar (000-15) it seemed to take a while to smooth out sonically - it sounded quite brittle for a few months, but is great now. Also love the j45's spacing at the nut - I have been playing the wrong guitars, until I bought the Gibson BluesKing last April and the J45 in November! Don't fix if it don't........ Regards BK.
EuroAussie Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Well the great thing about saddles is that if you don't like the bone replacement you can just switch to the old one. I added bone saddle and pins to my SWD and Furch and had no issues. I run the Aura spectrum through them both and its been great. Just wondering - are you running the Baggs pickup through the Aura with your J-45, does it work well?

It does work well on the J45 - apart from my Blues King all my other guitars have fishman (mostly passive) U/S pickups which work great with the Spectrum. I am still not sure about the battery Bagg - it is waiting to go flat and surprise me!!! regards BK.
