Duende Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 The title was just to grab you in LOL This is my Scottish mate Roy. As some people know I am also a huge fan of his compositions and technique! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFXUK6GGJL0
Kimbabig Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 And no high gain too I also kind of dig the Strat-Flying V love child
Duende Posted March 5, 2011 Author Posted March 5, 2011 And no high gain too Yep he does all his playing on ultra clean and no tricks! He lives in Barcelona and all his gear was nicked a few years back, it was a blessing in disguise for him (in his own words) as he had no distortion and began shaping a new sound that was his own. Matt
Kimbabig Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I do something called "the one week no gain challenge" It really let's me dissect my playing and improve on mistakes. not that a player like me should be giving you advice though.

Since I got my Tele I've been playing a lot of cleans. My Marshall Class 5 does some pretty good clean tones, surprisingly. Your friend's good, Matt :)
Searcy Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I told a guy that other day that I was so fast could play 128th notes. He didn't believe me... so I played one for him.

Duende Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 What is Roy using in the clip to make his clean sound like that? Matt
Kimbabig Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 What is Roy using in the clip to make his clean sound like that? Matt I figured picking so close to the bridge contributed to it.
Duende Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 I figured picking so close to the bridge contributed to it. Eureka!!! I wrote to him on facebook saying that his guitar sounded like a keyboard and he wrote back saying he uses a Boss VG 88 Guitar synth http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/products/en/VG-88_Version_2/ and a Boss Limiter! I can hear loads of my own ideas with this sound!! I want one!!!!!!! Matt
djroge1 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 it was almost a haunting sound and yes extremely quick picking.
