Rochester
I recently bought a Gibson SG Faded and it has chrome pickups, did they ever come this way, or was it an upgrade?? Thanks, Tom
strat-o-steve
Did not come that way...ever. Someone has likely just bought chrome covers for the stock pickups. Makes it look like a million bucks don't they? :D
bobouz
I have one of the first faded SGs, made in April '02. This early version came with moon inlays, ebony fingerboard, and a ABR bridge. After the change to dots, rosewood, & Nashville bridge, the only other change I'm aware of was the style of knobs. Chrome pickup covers were never part of the package. BobB
Sounds like someone added covers or changed the pick-ups.
sneakerpimp
pull the pup off to see if the cover is welded to the pickup, if it is then the pickup was likely replaced; if not then the cover is an add-on. i'm 100% sure the sg faded never came with covered pickups. DestructorsKillMusic1982
No, never stock, most likely someone bought covers and put them on, but if you do check them and the covers are welded on, you may have gotten lucky and someone might have upgraded to 57 Classics or BB's...check the bottom plate for any pickup manufacturer's stamp as well, of course.
